What is this blog?

My name is Matthew Ellis and I’m a writer/academic/musician from Portland, OR. I got my PhD in Modern Culture and Media from Brown University in 2022 and study media, culture, and history from the left. Rather than locking my scholarship away in academic journals nobody reads I decided to make a home here.
